Country Living

Life in the country is different than life in the city. The sounds are different, the smells are different and the pace of life is also different. Every day when I look out the window as I wash dishes, the scene looks like an old pastoral painting. Cows graze in the pasture nibbling at the young stocks of grass. The pasture is being shared with some Canadian Geese that have stopped to rest. In the early evening the sound of frogs croaking fills the air. Since our home sits just barely inland from the lake we can hear the frogs, the geese and lately the cranes. There is a certain peace in all of this ruckus, we cherish these moments. The bustle of the freeways and the city traffic is less than a half an hour away, but when we are here it seems as though this is all that we could want from life.

Lehi Roller Mills

As in other older towns across America, Lehi, Utah has a few old mills of it's own that were an important part of the commerece of the region. This particular old mill has been able to sustain it's life because of an event that happened back in the 1950's a fellow came to the mill and discussed having the mill make a breading for a new Kentucky fried chicken recipe that he was wanting to sell around the United States.
This mill is now on the Historical Register and it continues to crank out flour, cereal grains and many wheat products. They have now added a little gift shop where they sell yummy cookie, pancakes and muffin mixes. They also sell a variety of other Utah products.http://www.lehirollermill.com/
